Mental Health Champions

Our Mental Health Champions are pupils who play an active role in promoting positive mental health and well-being within St Augustine's. They act as positive role models, helping to raise awareness of mental health, reduce stigma, and encourage open conversations about emotional well-being.

Our Mental Health Champions support school initiatives, contribute ideas for well-being activities and campaigns, and help signpost fellow pupils to appropriate sources of support when needed. While they are not counsellors or mental health professionals, they help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all students feel valued, listened to, and empowered to look after their mental health.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting positive mental health and well-being across the school.

  • Encouraging open and respectful conversations about mental health.

  • Supporting awareness campaigns, events, and well-being initiatives.

  • Acting as positive role models for healthy coping strategies and self-care.

  • Helping peers access appropriate support from trusted adults and services.

  • Gathering pupil t voice and feedback to help improve well-being provision within the school.

Through their work, Pupil Mental Health Champions help foster a culture where mental health is understood, supported, and prioritised.

Our Mental Health Champions have been selected by Mrs. Pound because they:

  • Show kindness and empathy

  • Listen to others

  • Think about the feelings of others.

  • Take initiative.

  • Demonstrate responsibility

  • Reflect honestly on their experience.

  • Understand that well-being is everyone's responsibility.

Our Mental Health Champions this year are: Scarlett, Henry, Elliot, Nell, Esme, Smilte and Betsy.
