At St Augustine of Canterbury RC Primary School, we believe that attendance in school provides the best possible environment for learning, well-being and personal development. Remote education is therefore only used when attendance is not possible and pupils are able to continue learning from home. Our aim is to ensure that pupils can maintain progress in their learning and remain connected to their teachers and classmates during any period of absence.
Remote education may be provided:
During a school closure or restriction to attendance.
When individual pupils are unable to attend school for a temporary period but remain well enough to learn.
In other exceptional circumstances where attendance is not possible.
Children will receive access to learning that reflects the curriculum being taught in school wherever possible. This may include:
Teacher-prepared lessons and activities.
Online learning platforms.
Recorded or live teaching sessions.
Reading activities.
Independent practice and assignments.
Appropriate feedback on completed work.
Remote learning may be accessed through:
Google Classroom / Microsoft Teams / Tapestry
School email communication.
Online learning platforms with links provided.
Paper-based learning packs where necessary.
Details of login information and support are available from the class staff where this has been agreed.
We are committed to ensuring that all pupils can access remote learning. We will work with families to identify and reduce barriers to participation, including additional support for pupils with SEND. Alternative resources may be provided where required.

Safeguarding remains our highest priority. All online learning activities are conducted in accordance with our safeguarding, online safety and acceptable use policies. Pupils are expected to follow our online safety guidance at all times.
