At our school, we are privileged to work in partnership with parents, parish clergy and members of the parish family in supporting children on their journey of faith. The Sacramental Programme provides an important opportunity for children and their families to prepare for and celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. This is usually completed in Year 3 but we invite and welcome members of our school family in older year groups to join if they wish to. Children who join the programme must be baptised Catholic before receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion; any parents wishing to consider this are invited to discuss this with Fr Joseph.
Through our Religious Education curriculum, collective worship and prayer life, we help children develop their understanding of the sacraments and their significance within the Catholic faith. We support parish-based sacramental preparation by reinforcing key teachings, nurturing spiritual growth and encouraging active participation in the life of the Church. At present, we take an active role in supporting this through an after school club once children have enrolled in the programme. We are grateful to Mrs. Platt for supporting and leading the children in their preparation.
While the parish has primary responsibility for sacramental preparation and celebration, our school plays a vital role in fostering children's faith development and strengthening the partnership between home, school and parish. Together, we seek to ensure that each child is well prepared to receive the sacraments and to continue growing as a faithful member of the Catholic community. To support the children in their engagement with the programme and in sustaining their faith commitment, we ask that families commit to attending one of our parish Masses.
