Religious Education

As a Catholic school, Religious Education forms a central part of our curriculum and contributes significantly to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all pupils.

Parents have the legal right to withdraw their child, either wholly or partly, from Religious Education lessons. The school will respect this right and, on receipt of a written request, will arrange a meeting with parents to discuss their decision, explain the nature and aims of the Religious Education curriculum, and clarify the practical arrangements for withdrawal.

Parents wishing to exercise this right should contact Mrs. Colbeck in writing. Alternative supervision arrangements will be provided for pupils who are withdrawn from Religious Education, although the school is not required to provide alternative Religious Education teaching.

We encourage all families to support their child's participation in Religious Education, which promotes understanding, respect, reflection and knowledge of faith, values and beliefs within our diverse society.
